My son is working on the "I Am Special" theme this month. When I taught school, my favorite craft for making each child feel special is making a life size drawing. Using white butcher paper or banner paper, have you child lie down on top of the paper and trace his shape. Then, working together, add the hair color, facial features, clothes the child is wearing that day, shoes, and socks (if they are wearing socks!). Cut this out and hang it on a wall some where. This will be a life sized version since you trace your child. And if you child does most of the art work, they can be proud that they made it. You can also be fancy and use fabric for the clothes, yarn for the hair, or just use crayons.

Grandparent's Day Preschool Activities
This is the first year my children will celebrate Grandparent's Day. They attend school now so their teachers are thoughtful enough to remember those sweet days of the year that I don't remember as a child. Grandparent's Day started in 1978, which was before I started school, but it must not have caught on as an activity day until later. Even as a teacher, I never remembered it. So when I became a parent, I would try to get it right (my cousin Desha always invited her Grandmother and her parents over for a special dinner!), but it never took.
But this year, since my children's school is having a special day to honor grandparent's, I am going to list some of the best sites for activities to celebrate this day!
Handprint Crafts (always so cute!)
Crayola has lots of ideas.
Lots of picture frames and card ideas (Some things on this site require membership, but these ideas are free- but don't get your hopes up on some ideas!).
Lots of cute crafts ideas
I hope these selections help you not ignore your parents as grandparents!

September Activity Calendar for Preschoolers
In an effort not to duplicate the quality activities that have already been created and published on the internet, I am listing the best sites I have found for September Activities:
Mommy and Me Calendar: I think this link is the same each month. If you would like to print the calendar, you have to register for free.
First School Activities for Back to School, Grandparents Day, and community helpers.
For those living where the weather is actually getting cooler, you could start some fall activities (not so much in Florida)
Fall Preschool Crafts
Have a great September!
