Writing on the Table

I think I got too much in fall mood and forgot about blogging! I did not realize it had been so many days.

We did put a map on our dinner table and it has been so great! My son has learned where 7-9 states are located, mostly in the south. Since he is reading stories at school that have the name of states, he often asks where those states are too.

Since we put a piece of plastic over the map, we can now write on the map with washable markers. It is a lot of fun. He is circling letters, states he knows, and drawing some pictures. He even writes some "letters" if he finds the space.

My husband is a bit disturbed by this, but he has learned to deal with it. I am all for unconventional ways of teaching your children. Writing on the table is fun, and it does not seem like writing!

So the map on the table is for more than just geography... it is for a whole world of subjects!
