You may choose to follow a strict day to day preschool schedule with a specific time to complete activities. You may choose to do activities are the desire is there and work different concepts in through experiences throughout the day. Either way is acceptable. Just as in home schooling older children, there is not one correct way to teach your preschooler at home. You may choose to do a different skill or activity each day of the week. You will also need to take into consideration scheduled weekly activities into account when planning your schedule. You may decide to decide on a theme and teach concepts related to the theme for an entire week or month. The point is that YOU CHOOSE. Since you are the teacher, principle, and CEO of your preschool, you can decide. As with traditional school, so much time is lost in formal preschools due to behavior, bathroom time, lunch time, and nap time. Having your child at home with you allows you to determine what you do, when you do it, and how often you do it. If you are getting your child ready to attend a public or private kindergarten, you may want to become more scheduled as the first day of school gets closer. That way, the child will adapt well to being at school.
Check back next week for some samples preschool schedules.
Here is a preschool schedule form creator I found that maybe helpful too!
